Description
Summary:Construction is essential for the progress of modern societies, especially in developing countries, with considerable housing and infrastructure deficit. For this reason, the State intervenes in constructive activities, through government policies focused on stimulating the economy. Likewise, public investment resources are channeled to these types of projects, which are inherently complex and managed by the business or private sector. However, due to dependence on public sector, changes in world markets, their volatility and uncertainty, Colombian economy is susceptible to changes in the market, due to economic openness policies. In addition to the above, the efforts in the approach and control of traditional problems, focused on including organizational management, methodologies and project development. This are not updated and formulated to get better business practices, which has prevented the identification of factors related to permanence. In view of the manifest need, the present research evaluated the organizational context in construction, its characteristics and capabilities, through the formulation of methodologies, supported by standardized methods and multivariate numerical analysis, which established the business traits and perceptions on project management. With the analysis of internal consistency and reliability, the factors of business permanence were consolidated around organizational structures, tools, managerial capabilities, maturity, restrictions and their correlation with business size, legal status and economic subactivity. These are accompanied by contextual criteria of the organizational environment, from the knowledge and use of project management; which allowed the formulation of factors constituted by structures, practices and tools in processes that influence success and business permanence, by identifying characteristics that synthesize and reference the possible adoption of skills in management processes within the economic context of construction
