description This article focuses on the analysis of the students’ performances when they face with the resolution of a learning environment from real research scenarios in order to develop mathematical competences from critical mathematical education. The research project was developed under a qualitative study, with a comprehensive cut, where the population is composed by 9th grade students of a Colombian educational Institution. The learning environment is related to the public service of aqueduct, sewerage and cleanliness in the town of Campoalegre, State of Huila, Colombia, which allows establishing an approximate reflection on the way mathematics operates as a part of society, contributing to the consolidation of a critical and reflective student. From results, it is concluded how the learning environments allow articulating didactically the development of mathematical competences in the classroom, from real situations in the students' context, promoting a critical citizenship in front of the reality described in the learning environments. Then, they reveal how experience and collaborative work are intertwined to assume judgments that are woven from their subjectivities of the society in which they are immersed.

El propósito del artículo se centra en analizar las actuaciones de los estudiantes cuando se enfrentan a la resolución de un ambiente de aprendizaje desde escenarios de investigación reales, para el desarrollo de competencias matemáticas desde la educación matemática crítica. La investigación se desarrolló bajo un estudio cualitativo, con un corte comprensivo, donde la población la componen estudiantes del grado noveno de una Institución Educativa colombiana. El ambiente de aprendizaje se relaciona con el servicio público de acueducto, alcantarillado y aseo del municipio de Campoalegre, Huila, el cual permite establecer una reflexión aproximada a la manera en que las matemáticas operan como parte de la sociedad, contribuyendo a la consolidación de un estudiante crítico y reflexivo. Se concluye cómo los ambientes de aprendizaje permiten articular didácticamente el desarrollo de competencias matemáticas en el aula de clase, desde situaciones reales del contexto de los estudiantes, potenciando una ciudadanía crítica frente a la realidad descrita en el ambiente de aprendizaje. Estas situaciones develan cómo la experiencia y el trabajo colaborativo, se entrelazan para asumir juicios que se tejen desde las subjetividades de la sociedad en la cual se encuentran inmersos los estudiantes.
