This article examines the works of young people in the Latin American engineering context who have begun to share their ideas with the world. The objective is to establish a perspective of environmental and geographic engineering from the scholarly production promoted by the undergraduate program. The method comprises four stages that start with exploring and compiling 91 visible scholarly products between 2005–2019 for subsequent categorization. We then perform a general quantitative analysis of the contents and supplement the perspective with a synthetic interview with experts. As a result, we classify the scholarly production into five categories and thirteen subcategories. We also carry out a spatial analysis of such production, noting a constructive process of successive contributions. This exploration traces new paths, examines the possibility of joining efforts, and, above all, introduces new generations to the dialogue of knowledge and interdisciplinarity.

Producir nuevo conocimiento en disciplinas emergentes que combinan varios campos del saber es aún una tarea que tiene un largo camino por recorrer, particularmente sobre integraciones entre temas ambientales y geográficos en los cuales algunos investigadores de amplia trayectoria han generado aportes importantes. En este artículo se revisan los pasos de jóvenes que, desde una ingeniería de contexto latinoamericano, empiezan a expresar al mundo sus ideas. El objetivo es establecer una perspectiva de la Ingeniería Geográfica y Ambiental a partir de la producción académica que es potenciada desde el pregrado. La metodología se desarrolló en cuatro etapas que iniciaron con la exploración y compilación de 91 productos académicos visibles en el periodo 2005-2019, lo que permitió una categorización posterior; luego se pasó a un análisis cuantitativo general de los contenidos y se complementó la perspectiva con la aplicación de una entrevista sintética a expertos. Como resultados, se logró clasificar la producción académica en cinco categorías y trece subcategorías, se realizó un análisis espacial de tal producción y se evidenció un proceso constructivo de aportes sucesivos. Con ello, se muestra una exploración que permite trazar nuevas trayectorias, revisar la posibilidad de vincular esfuerzos y, sobre todo, impulsar a las nuevas generaciones en el ejercicio del diálogo de saberes y la interdisciplina. Produzir um novo conhecimento em disciplinas emergentes que combinem vários campos do conhecimento é ainda uma tarefa que tem um longo caminho a percorrer, particularmente sobre integrações entre questões ambientais e geográficas, nas quais alguns pesquisadores com ampla trajetória têm gerado contribuições importantes. Neste artigo revisam-se os passos de jovens que, a partir de uma engenharia de contexto latino-americana, começam a expressar suas ideias para o mundo. O objetivo é estabelecer uma perspectiva da Engenharia Geográfica e Ambiental a partir da produção acadêmica que é potenciada desde a pré-graduação. A metodologia foi desenvolvida em quatro etapas que se iniciaram com a exploração e compilação de 91 produtos acadêmicos visíveis no período 2005-2019, permitindo que uma posterior categorização; logo após passou-se para uma análise quantitativa geral dos conteúdos e a perspectiva foi complementada com a aplicação de uma entrevista sintética a especialistas. Como resultados, conseguiu-se classificar a produção acadêmica em cinco categorias e treze subcategorias, assim foi realizada uma análise espacial dessa produção e tem-se evidenciado um processo construtivo de contribuições sucessivas. Com isso, mostra-se uma exploração que permite traçar novas trajetórias, rever a possibilidade de vincular esforços e, sobretudo, impulsionar as novas gerações no exercício do diálogo de saberes e a interdisciplina.
