description | This article presents a reflection on the challenges and needs of the students of the Primary Bassic Education Degree, in terms of performance as competent speakers, a task adressed in the first intance through the subject of Communicative Competences and then in the other subjects in the área of Spanish Language, taking into account that language is the human capacity that allows to construct, express, disseminate and universalize thought. In addition, being communication a compe- tence made up of skills such as speaking, listening, reading and writing, it is urgent to take actions that help students to improve and strengthen them, especially when all these are necessary for an adequate performance in the course of his university career.
Based on the statements made by them through the characterization survey applied to the students of the first semester of the program, regarding the need to strengthen some aspects related to language skills, especially in reading and writing, it reflects the urgency that they feel about improving their communication skills not only in the academic sphere but also in the context in which they perform. Finally, a reflection is made on the challenge of working to strengthen communicative skills in the students of the program, undertaken from all subjects with the help of both teachers and students involved in the teaching-learning process. |

Este artículo presenta una reflexión sobre los retos y necesidades de los estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Educación Básica Primaria, en cuanto al desempeño como hablantes competentes, tarea abordada en primera instancia a través de la asignatura de Competencias Comunicativas y luego en las demás asignaturas del área de Lengua Castellana, teniendo en cuenta que el lenguaje es la capacidad humana que permite construir, expresar, divulgar y universalizar el pensamiento. Además, siendo la comunicación una competencia conformada por habilidades ta- les como: hablar, escuchar, leer y escribir, resulta urgente emprender acciones que ayuden a los estudiantes a mejorarlas y fortalecerlas, más aún cuando todas estas son necesarias para un adecuado desempeño en el transcurso de su carrera universitaria. Partiendo de las manifestaciones hechas por ellos mismos a través de la en- cuesta de caracterización aplicada a los estudiantes de primer semestre del pro- grama, respecto a la necesidad de fortalecer algunos aspectos relacionados con las habilidades del lenguaje, especialmente en lectura y escritura, se refleja la urgencia que sienten de mejorar sus capacidades de comunicación no solamente en el ám- bito académico sino en el contexto en el cual ellos se desempeñan. Finalmente, se hace una reflexión sobre el reto que significa trabajar para fortalecer las competencias comunicativas en los estudiantes del del Programa, compromiso adquirido desde todas las asignaturas con el concurso tanto de docentes como de los mismos estudiantes involucrados en el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje.
