The current economic, social, and environmental problems caused by global population growth and the over- exploitation of the planet's resources generate an increasing interest in sustainability driven studies as a priority issue for nations. The objective of the present paper is to apply bibliometric techniques for the analyses of the evolution of the scientific publications with focus on sustainability driven topics authored or coauthored by at least one researcher with affiliation to an institute located in the Mexican Republic. In total, 2,629 articles published in the last 28 years were identified by the designed methodical search in the Web of Science scientific database. The results are organized in tables that show the most influential articles in the area, the journals with the highest number of publications, the most productive authors, the most relevant research areas, and the most representative organizations. These results are complemented by visual network maps developed with the software VOSviewer. The results show the predominant thematic trends, in addition to a clear increase in participatory disciplines, with special emphasis on social disciplines.

Published: 01/12/2020 Los actuales problemas económicos, sociales y ambientales propiciados por el crecimiento poblacional mundial y la sobre explotación de los recursos del planeta han generado un aumento en el interés por el estudio de la sustentabilidad como tema prioritario de las naciones. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo aplicar técnicas bibliométricas para analizar la evolución de las publicaciones científicas en el área del conocimiento de la sustentabilidad realizada en autoría o coautoría por al menos un investigador adscrito a un centro de investigación localizado en México. En total se identificaron 2,629 artículos publicados en los últimos 28 años a través de la metódica búsqueda en la base de datos científica Web of Science. Los resultados se organizan en tablas que muestran los artículos más influyentes del área, las revistas con mayor número de publicaciones, los autores más productivos, las áreas de investigación más relevantes y las organizaciones más representativas. El análisis visual de resultados se complementa con mapas de redes desarrolladas con ayuda del software VOSviewer. Los resultados muestran las tendencias temáticas predominantes, además de un claro aumento en las disciplinas participativas, con especial énfasis en las disciplinas sociales.
