description During the undergraduate years, there are challenges that students must cope with, in order to achieve academic success and maintain good health throughout their studies. This is a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational research which seeks to explore the relation between stress, cognitive-emotional regulation, coping with university life, and health in 555 Colombian university students aged 16 to 49 years. The results show average and high scores on all variables except physical activity. Also, statistically significant relationships between all variables were verified, which leads to the conclusion that the use of positive cognitive-emotional regulation strategies, low levels of stress, and responses tostress are related to better health, healthy habits, and coping with university life. Based on these results, intervention strategies aimed at strengthening cognitive-emotional regulation in stressful situations could be proposed and implemented to ensure better coping with university.

Durante el periodo de estudios universitarios, se presentan desafíos a los cuales los estudiantes deben adaptarse para alcanzar el éxito académico y mantener buena salud durante la carrera. El presente es un estudio no experimental, transversal y correlacional, con el cual se busca explorar la relación entre estrés, regulación cognitivo-emocional, adaptación a la vida universitaria y salud en 555 estudiantes universitarios colombianos con edades de 16 a 49 años. Los resultados evidencian puntuaciones medias y altas en todas las variables, excepto en actividad física. Igualmente, se verificaron relaciones estadísticamente significativas entre todas las variables, con lo cual se puede concluir que el uso de estrategias de regulación cognitivo-emocional positivas, bajos niveles de estrés y respuestas a este se relacionan con un mejor estado de salud, hábitos saludables y adaptación a la vida universitaria. A partir de estos resultados, se podrían proponer e implementar estrategias de intervención dirigidas al fortalecimiento de la regulación cognitivo-emocional ante situaciones estresantes para garantizar una mejor adaptación a la universidad. Durante os anos universitários, apresentam-se desafios aos quais os estudantes devem se adaptar para alcançar o sucesso acadêmico e manter a boa saúde durante esse período. Este é um estudo não experimental, transversal e correlacional, que procura explorar a relação entre estresse, regulação cognitivo-emocional, adaptação à vida universitária e saúde em 555 estudantes universitários colombianos de 16 a 49 anos. Os resultados mostram pontuações médias e altas em todas as variáveis, exceto na atividade física. Da mesma forma, foram verificadas relações estatisticamente significativas entre todas as variáveis, com as quais se pode concluir que o uso de estratégias positivas de regulação cognitivo-emocional, baixos níveis de estresse e respostas ao estresse estão relacionados a um melhor estado de saúde, hábitos saudáveis e adaptação à vida universitária. Com base nestes resultados, poderiamser propostas e implementadas estratégias de intervenção destinadas a fortalecer a regulaçãocognitivo-emocional em situações estressantes para garantir uma melhor adaptação à universidade.
