description The project "Theater for Expression" is a pedagogical strategy that seeks to improve oral expression among interdisciplinary Cycle V students at Silvino Rodríguez School in Tunja, specifically at its Establecimiento Penitenciario Carcelario de Mediana Seguridad [Medium Security Penitentiary Institution] headquarters. This study is framed under a qualitative paradigm since it emphasizes the processes and decisions that students take. The study also focused on solving specific problems rather than contributing to scientific theory (Baez, 2003). Likewise, our current investigation was guided by critical-social research since it reflects on education and its current problems. We utilized an action research study mainly because the objective was to improve educational practices by means of creating strategies that could improve discourse and teaching. This study involved a group of students deprived of their freedom, who also worked in that context. In other words, the study took place in a space where the subjects and objects to be investigated, as well as the school and classroom are developed (Baez, 2003).

El proyecto ‘TEATRO PARA LA EXPRESIÓN’ es una estrategia pedagógica que tiene como objetivo mejorar la expresión oral en los estudiantes de la institución educativa Silvino Rodríguez, sede Establecimiento Penitenciario Carcelario de Mediana Seguridad en la ciudad de Tunja del ciclo lectivo interdisciplinar V, dicha investigación se encuentra enmarcada en el paradigma cualitativo, ya que se enfatiza más en el proceso que llevan los estudiantes y la toma de decisiones durante su desarrollo, y está enfocado más a la solución de problemas concretos que a contribuir a la teoría científica (Baez, 2003). Así mismo, está orientado bajo los criterios de la investigación crítico social, ya que en ésta se reflexiona sobre educación y sus problemas actuales. El procedimiento que se plantea sigue las reglas comunes de la investigación acción, principalmente por que su objetivo es mejorar la práctica educativa por medio de la creación de estrategias que mejoren el discurso y la práctica docente. Esta investigación "involucra a un colectivo de estudiantes privados de la libertad y se trabaja desde su contexto, es decir, se da la investigación desde el campo donde se desarrollan los sujetos y objetos a investigar, la escuela y el aula de clase" (Baez, 2003).
