Initially, the concept and its importance as an investigative approach are presented. Then the emerging categories of the document review are highlighted. In this sense, first, the social representations of the actors of the educational context are related: parents, teachers, and students, then the social representations in rural contexts and those related to educational transitions are addressed, referred to the transition from elementary to high school. Finally, the importance of investigating and understanding Social Representations as a way to study and know the phenomena generated in educational contexts and as a contribution to the recognition of the elements that build and influence ways of thinking and communities and individuals. |

In this sense, first, the social representations of the actors of the educational context are related: parents, teachers, and students, then the social representations in rural contexts and those related to educational transitions are addressed, referred to the transition from elementary to high school. Finally, the importance of investigating and understanding Social Representations as a way to study and know the phenomena generated in educational contexts and as a contribution to the recognition of the elements that build and influence ways of thinking and communities and individuals. Este texto presenta un panorama sobre las investigaciones de Representaciones Sociales relacionadas al contexto educativo en Latinoamérica y Colombia. Inicialmente, se exponen el concepto y su importancia como enfoque investigativo. Luego se resaltan las categorías emergentes producto de la revisión documental realizada. En este sentido, primero se relacionan las representaciones sociales de los actores del contexto educativo: padres de familia, maestros y estudiantes, enseguida se abordan las representaciones sociales en contextos rurales y las relacionadas con las transiciones educativas, referido al paso de la primaria al bachillerato. Finalmente, se destaca la importancia de indagar y comprender las Representaciones Sociales como una manera de estudiar y conocer los fenómenos generados en los contextos educativos y como un aporte al reconocimiento de los elementos que construyen e influyen en las formas de pensar y actuar de las comunidades e individuos.
