description The research article analyzes the social representations of school principals regarding rural education. Five rectors working in public educational institutions in the municipalities of Socha and Socotá, Boyacá participated in the study. The qualitative hermeneutic research adopts the processual approach of the theory of Social Representations, as a way of reading and understanding the information. The analysis revealed the Social Representations on rural education which, according to the scenario of enunciation, acquired meaning in the categories: access and accessibility, colonizing look, daily life and possibilities of rural education, as a source of knowledge of the educational reality. All of this was defined from the point of view of the teachers' directors.

All of this was defined from the point of view of the teachers' directors. El artículo de investigación analiza las Representaciones Sociales de directivos docentes respecto a la educación rural. En el estudio participaron cinco rectores que laboran en instituciones educativas de carácter público de los municipios de Socha y Socotá, Boyacá. La investigación cualitativa de tipo hermenéutico adopta el enfoque procesual propio de la teoría de las Representaciones Sociales, como una forma de lectura y comprensión de la información. El análisis develó las Representaciones Sociales sobre la educación rural que, de acuerdo con el escenario de enunciación, adquirieron significado en las categorías: acceso y accesibilidad, mirada colonizadora, cotidianidad y posibilidades de la educación rural, como fuente de conocimiento de la realidad educativa. Todo ello definido desde la visión de directivos docentes. O artigo de pesquisa analisa as representações sociais dos diretores de escolas em relação à educação rural. Cinco reitores trabalhando em instituições públicas de ensino nos municípios de Socha e Socotá, Boyacá participou do estudo. A pesquisa hermenêutica qualitativa adota a abordagem do processo da teoria das Representações Sociais, como forma de ler e compreender as informações. A análise revelou as representações sociais sobre a educação rural que, segundo o cenário da enunciação, adquiriram significado nas categorias: acesso e acessibilidade, visão colonizadora, vida cotidiana e possibilidades da educação rural, como fonte de conhecimento da realidade educativa. Tudo isso foi definido do ponto de vista dos diretores dos professores.
