| description | The article sought to answer the question: How do the homicide statistics between 2016 and 2019, and the prevention, protection and security measures of the Colombian state relate to social leaders and human rights defenders? By analysing in detail the INDEPAZ and government figures on homicides of leaders and human rights defenders by type of leadership and municipality, in the period 2016-2019 in Colombia. The research has an interpretative paradigm, with a qualitative approach; strengthened by descriptive and hermeneutic typologies, capable of linking subjects, objects and real phenomena, which is configured by different factors such as: illicit crops, drug trafficking routes, illegal and legal mining, forced displacement and the implementation of the Peace Agreement, by municipalities and even by types of leadership. Through the data and information provided, it was possible to conclude that there are irregularities in the state's prevention, protection and security measures. |

El artículo buscó dar respuesta a la pregunta formulada: ¿Cómo se relacionan las estadísticas de homicidios entre 2016 y 2019, y las medidas de prevención, protección y seguridad del Estado colombiano con los líderes sociales y defensores de derechos humanos? Analizando de manera detenida las cifras de INDEPAZ y del Gobierno frente a los homicidios de líderes y defensores de derechos humanos por tipo de liderazgo y municipios, en el periodo 2016-2019 en Colombia. La investigación tiene un paradigma interpretativo, con enfoque cualitativo; fortalecido por tipologías descriptivas y hermenéuticas, capaz de vincular sujetos, objetos y fenómenos reales, que se encuentra configurado por diferentes factores como: cultivos ilícitos, rutas del narcotráfico, minería ilegal y legal, desplazamiento forzado y la implementación del Acuerdo de Paz, por municipios e incluso por tipos de liderazgo. A través de los datos e información proporcionada se pudo concluir que se presentan irregularidades en las medidas de prevención, protección y seguridad por parte del Estado.
