description This paper deals with the influence of didactic material, specially designed to study science and technology concepts in the primary level of education. The child preconcepts about science and technology were recopiled by a questionary, after that, the material was applied using a methodology that allows the interaction between students and prototypes, then, a new test was performed to detect changes induced by the pedagogical strategy employed in the classroom. The study was done at five schools in Duitama, Boyacá. As the main result of this research we have the high percentage of students that changed their erroneous conception about the items under study.

El presente estudio pretende establecer la importancia de utilizar material didáctico, especialmente diseñado, en  la  enseñanza  de  los  conceptos  de  Ciencia  y Tecnología en niños de básica primaria. En primer lugar, se indagan los preconceptos de los niños, a través de un primer  sondeo,  luego  se  aplica  el material  didáctico enmarcado  en  una  metodología  que  permite  la interacción  del  estudiante  con  los  prototipos,  en  un tercer  momento  se  efectúa  un  nuevo  sondeo  para determinar  los  cambios  conceptuales producto de  la estrategia pedagógica utilizada. Para las pruebas piloto se  escogieron  cinco  instituciones  educativas  de  la ciudad  de  Duitama,  Boyacá.  Como  resultado  más relevante  esta  el  alto  porcentaje  de  niños  que cambiaron  la  concepción  errónea  que  tenían inicialmente acerca de  los conceptos bajo estudio.Palabras  clave: Enseñanza, Ciencia, Tecnología, Materiales Didácticos.Abstract This paper deals with the influence of didactic material, specially  designed  to  study  science  and  technology concepts  in  the primary  level of  education.
