Then we proceeded to make mixtures of mineral fines, coal and binder, in order to find the ideal proportions to obtain high-performance pellets, taking into account the kinetic and thermodynamic conditions of the process. The experimental design determined that the number of tests to be performed is 48, that is, 3 repetitions for each sample. Then, tests were carried out to study the reducibility of the pellets, evaluating the behavior of these with each of the binders once the reduction temperature had been reached. The pre-reduced obtained was analyzed by chemical and microscopic methods.

Inicialmente  se  realizó  la  toma  de  muestras representativas de  finos de mineral, aglomerantes y carbones motivo  de  estudio,  para  efectuar  su caracterización.  Paralelamente,  se  puso  a  punto  el disco peletizador de los laboratorios de la Escuela de Metalurgia de la UPTC. Luego se procedió a realizar mezclas de finos de mineral, de carbón y aglomerante, con el fin de encontrar las proporciones ideales para obtener pelets de alto rendimiento, teniendo en cuenta condiciones cinéticas y termodinámicas del proceso. El diseño experimental determinó que el número de ensayos por realizar es de 48, es decir, 3 repeticiones por cada muestra. Enseguida  se  realizaron ensayos para estudiar la reducibilidad de los pelets, evaluando el  comportamiento  de  estos  con  cada  uno  de  los aglomerantes una vez se ha alcanzado la temperatura de reducción. El prerreducido obtenido se analizó por métodos químicos y microscópicos.
