description The effect of aluminum concentration on the second harmonic generation (SHG) in a cylindrical quantum dot (CQD) is studied theoretically, using the density matrix formalism and a perturbative procedure. The energy levels and wave functions of an electron in the CQD were obtained by solving the time-independent Schrödinger equation in the framework of the effective mass approximation. Numerical calculations are performed for a CQD of GaAs/Al1−xGaxAs. It was found that the increase in the aluminum concentration produces a decrease in the intensity of the SHG and a blue shift in the resonant peaks of the optical res- ponse of the object of study.

Se estudia teóricamente el efecto de la concentración de aluminio sobre la generación del segundo armónico (SHG) en un punto cuántico cilíndrico (CQD), usando el formalismo de la matriz densidad y un procedimiento perturbativo. Los niveles de energía y las funciones de onda de un electrón en el CQD se obtuvieron solucionando la ecuación de Schrödinger independiente del tiempo en el marco de la aproximación de masa efectiva. Los cálculos numéricos se efectúan para un CQD de AsGa/AsGa1−xAlx. Se encontró que el aumento de la concentración de alumnio produce una disminución de la intensidad de la SHG y un corrimiento al azul en los picos resonantes de la respuesta óptica objeto de estudio.
