Originality/contribution: This study makes a contribution to the field by analyzing an important institution for the social and intellectual development of the region.
Method: With the purpose of conducting an in-depth research, the study focused on the analysis of the Normal Education in this institution through historical and documentary sources. The work was organized in four methodological stages: heuristic, doxography, etiology and synthesis.
Information strategy/data collection: direct sources were used, such as: congregation minutes, school inspection minutes, the regulations for the creation of the Normal School of Peçanha and other regulations, laws, decrees and resolutions of higher instances, as well as indirect sources, namely: historiographic studies of normal schools in Brazil and in the regional context.
Conclusions: the research shows that the creation and organization of this institution was a political act by the local elite that resulted in the institutionalization of teacher formation for primary education. |

Objetivo: Investigar el proceso de instalación, funcionamiento y organización de la Escuela Normal de Peçanha, situada en la región oriental del Estado de Minas Gerais (Brasil), entre el período de 1914 a 1930. Originalidad/aporte: El estudio es una contribución al área pues se trata de un análisis de una institución importante para el desarrollo social e intelectual de la región. Método: Con el propósito de profundizar en la investigación, ésta se centró en el análisis de la Educación Normal en esta institución escolar a través de fuentes históricas y documentales. La investigación se organizó en cuatro pasos metodológicos: heurística, doxografía, etiología y síntesis. Estrategia/recolección de información: Se utilizaron fuentes directas como actas de congregación, actas de inspección escolar, reglamento para la creación de la Escuela Normal de Peçanha, y reglamentos, leyes, decretos y resoluciones de instancias superiores y fuentes indirectas, a saber: estudios historiográficos de escuelas normales de Brasil y del contexto regional. Conclusiones: Con la investigación fue posible evidenciar que la creación y organización de la institución estudiada fue un acto político de la élite local, que resultó en la institucionalización de la formación de docentes para la educación primaria. Objetivo: O presente artigo tem por objetivo investigar o processo de instalação, funcionamento e organização da Escola Normal de Peçanha situada na região Leste do estado de Minas Gerais - Brasil entre o período de 1914 a 1930. Originalidade/contribuição: O estudo é uma contribuição à área pois trata-se de uma análise de uma instituição importante para o desenvolvimento social e intelectual da região. Método: Com o desígnio de aprofundar a investigação, a pesquisa teve como foco a análise do Ensino Normal nesta instituição escolar por meio de fontes históricas e documentais. A investigação foi organizada em quatro etapas metodológicas: Heurística, Doxografia, Etiologia e Síntese. Estratégia/coleta de dados: Para tanto, fez-se necessário o uso de fontes diretas tais como: atas da congregação, atas de inspeção escolar, regimento de criação da Escola Normal de Peçanha e regulamentos, leis, decretos e resoluções advindas das instâncias superiores e fontes indiretas, a saber: estudos historiográficos de escolas normais do Brasil e do contexto regional. Conclusão: Com a pesquisa foi possível evidenciar que a criação e a organização da instituição estudada foi um ato político da elite local que resultou na institucionalização da formação de professores para a educação primária.
