Este ensayo busca aportar al debate sobre el papel de la ética o de la moral en la vida política en medio de la generalizada perdida de confianza en las instituciones públicas. Se parte de la discusión entre ética y política y desde esta incesante polémica encontrar argumentos que posibiliten comprender la crisis de confianza que afecta las democracias. La insoluble relación entre lo político y lo ético, naciente en la concepción Romana y sostenida por pensadores como Maquiavelo y Weber, ha forjado un marco de interpretación donde la priorización de los medios desdibuja lo político. En un sentido contrario y desde la concepción griega se erige una rica tradición en defensa a la relación de los conceptos (Ética y Política), los cuales marcarán los planteamientos contemporáneos de la democracia, a partir de los aportes de la de la ética discursiva de Habermas y de autores como Adela Cortina, Jhon Rawls y Victoria Camps que asumen una relación convergente entre ética y política.
