En sectores carboníferos que presentan continuidad estratigráfica regional, los mantos de carbón deformados, por efecto de los esfuerzos tectónicos presentan características estructurales locales, que deben ser consideradas dentro de la correlación estratigráfica de los sondeos de exploración.
