description Objective: To identify the appointments of rural preceptors in an inland village of Paraguay between 1880 and 1886, twenty years after the War of the Triple Alliance. Originality/Contribution: Delve into the topic of the restoration of public education during this period, as well as the political reorganization of Paraguay. Method: Qualitative, descriptive and inductive approaches are adopted to study the appointments of preceptors and preceptresses in Villa Florida, a rural village of Paraguay. These methods allow us also to formulate general conclusions about political reorganization and public education. Strategies/Data collection: Handwritten sources such as the decrees of appointments in the Official Public Records and in the Education-Ministry of Justice Section at the National Archives of Asuncion, and some secondary sources are reviewed in order to quantify the creation of rural schools, from 1st to 3rd grade, and then relate the appointments of preceptors coinciding with that of political leaders and justices of the peace. Conclusion: The list of appointments of preceptors concatenated with that of political leaders and justices of the peace demonstrates -through personal and family accommodations- the formation of a new institutional bureaucracy that supports the preeminence of political reorganization over the reorganization of public education that took place in the second postwar decade in Paraguay.

Objetivo: Identificar los nombramientos de preceptores y preceptoras rurales en un pueblo del interior en el Paraguay entre 1880 y 1886, veinte años después de la Guerra contra la Triple Alianza. Originalidad/aporte: Profundizar en el conocimiento de la restauración de la educación pública durante el periodo de 1880 y 1886, así como en la reorganización política del Paraguay. Método: Se adopta el enfoque cualitativo, descriptivo e inductivo para estudiar los nombramientos de preceptores y preceptoras en un pueblo rural del Paraguay, Villa Florida, y formular conclusiones generales sobre la reorganización política y la enseñanza pública. Estrategias/recolección de información: Se revisan fuentes manuscritas como los decretos de nombramientos en los Registros Oficiales Públicos y en la Sección Educación-Ministerio de Justicia del Archivo Nacional de Asunción, y algunas fuentes secundarias. A partir de ellas se cuantifica la creación de escuelas rurales, sean éstas de 1.a, 2.a o 3.a clase, y, luego, se configura una relación de designaciones de preceptores y preceptoras en coincidencia con la de jefes políticos y jueces de paz, entre 1880 y 1886. Conclusión: La lista de nombramientos de preceptores y preceptoras concatenada con la de jefes políticos y jueces de paz demuestra –mediante acomodamientos personales y familiares– la formación de una nueva burocracia institucional que sustenta la preeminencia de la reorganización política por sobre la reorganización de la enseñanza pública que sucedió en la segunda década de posguerra en el Paraguay.   Objetivo: Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo identificar as nomeações de preceptores rurais no Paraguai na segunda década do período que se seguiu ao fim da Guerra contra a Tríplice Aliança, entre 1880 e 1886, com foco em uma determinada cidade do interior. Originalidade/contribuição: O assunto é relevante para aprofundar a restauração do ensino público, entre 1880 e 1886, bem como a reorganização política no Paraguai. Método: A abordagem qualitativa, descritiva e indutiva é adotada para estudar as nomeações de preceptores em uma cidade rural do Paraguai, Villa Florida, e formular conclusões gerais sobre reorganização política e educação pública. Estratégias/coleta de datos: São revisadas as fontes manuscritas, como os decretos de nomeação nos Registros Públicos Oficiais e na Seção de Educação-Ministério da Justiça do Arquivo Nacional de Assunção. A partir das quais, se quantifica a criação de escolas fora de Assunção (capital), se estes são de 1a., 2a. ou 3a. lições. Então, configura-se uma relação de nomeações em coincidência com as de chefes políticos ou juízes de paz, entre 1880 e 1886. Conclusão: A lista de nomeações de tutores e chefes políticos demonstra a formação de uma nova burocracia institucional –através de acomodações pessoais e familiares– que sustenta a preeminência da reorganização política sobre a reorganização educacional, o que aconteceu no pós-guerra.
