description The present article evaluates the situation of basic education in the republics of Mexico and Colombia, as a result of the health emergency caused by the Covid-19. The research was developed through the analytical-synthetic method, under the holistic research paradigm, which allowed the understanding of the phenomenon studied through data analysis and comparison techniques and instruments. Inequalities in access to education are observed in both countries, caused in particular by the lack of knowledge of the use of new technologies by students and teachers. The foregoing becomes a limitation of progress, of social changes and the cause of a greater distancing from the expected social justice, making it impossible to perceive, disseminate and respect human rights and provide high quality education to new generations of citizens.

El presente artículo evalúa la situación de la educación básica en las repúblicas de México y Colombia, a raíz de la emergencia sanitaria causada por el Covid-19. La investigación se desarrolló a través del método analítico-sintético, bajo el paradigma holístico de investigación, que permitió la comprensión del fenómeno estudiado mediante técnicas e instrumentos de análisis y comparación de datos. En ambos países se observan desigualdades en materia de acceso a la educación, causadas en especial por la falta de servicios y herramientas digitales y la falta de conocimiento del uso de las nuevas tecnologías por parte de estudiantes y maestros. Lo anterior se convierte en una limitante del progreso, de los cambios sociales y en causal de un mayor distanciamiento de la esperada justicia social, imposibilitando percibir, difundir y respetar los derechos humanos y brindar alta calidad educativa a las nuevas generaciones de ciudadanos.
