Originality/contribution: In the Latin American context, the conceptualization of the logic followed by the university and its current use requires to be analyzed based on its application and transformation in agreement with society, pluridiversity, and the future vision.
Method: A review of both informative and legal documents was carried out with emphasis on Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, and Peru. Therefore, this research work is also a historiographical analysis aimed at understanding the implications of the change around theorizations and applications in education at universities.
Strategy/Data collection: (1) Review of the state of the art; (2) documentary analysis; (3) reflection and comparison of findings; (4) preparation of the article.
Conclusions: Higher education should be considered a key instrument in the configuration of a society with knowledge and values. In this sense, universities must present themselves as centers of debate, critical thinking, and defense of the rights of humanity. They should promote innovation and research, always in favor of improvement. |

Objetivo: Este artículo refiere un recorrido histórico por el cambio sufrido en las teorizaciones y aplicación de la educación con el fin de discernir el rol de las universidades en torno a los indicadores que han construido la realidad de los modelos educativos latinoamericanos actuales. Originalidad/aporte: En el contexto latinoamericano, las lógicas seguidas en la universidad, su conceptualización y uso vigente ameritan un análisis de su aplicación y transformación en convenio con la sociedad, la pluridiversidad y proyección a futuro. Método: Se realizó una revisión de documentos, tanto divulgativos como legales, prestando énfasis en Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia y Perú. De esta manera, la investigación articula un ámbito de análisis historiográfico, orientado a profundizar la definición del cambio sufrido en las teorizaciones y aplicaciones de la educación en las universidades. Estrategia/recolección de información: (1) Revisión del estado del arte; (2) análisis documental; (3) reflexión y comparación de los hallazgos; (4) elaboración del artículo. Conclusiones: La educación superior debe ser considerada como un instrumento clave en la configuración de una sociedad de conocimiento y de valores. En este sentido, las universidades han de presentarse como centros de debate, de pensamiento crítico y de defensa de los derechos de la humanidad, fomentando la innovación y la investigación para una mejora de su calidad. Objetivo: Este artigo faz referência a uma viagem histórica através da mudança sofrida nas teorizações e na aplicação da educação para discernir o papel das universidades em relação aos indicadores que construíram a realidade dos catuais modelos educativos latino-americanos. Originalidade/temática: No contexto latino-americano, as lógicas seguidas na universidade, a sua concetualização e utilização atual merecem uma análise da sua aplicação e transformação de acordo com a sociedade, a pluridiversidade e a projeção futura. Método: Foi efetuada uma revisão de documentos, tanto informativos como legais, com ênfase Chile, Uruguai, Bolívia e Peru. Desta forma, a pesquisa articula uma área de análise historiográfica, orientada para aprofundar a definição da mudança sofrida nas teorizações e aplicações da educação nas universidades.
