O presente texto apresenta uma investigação bibliográfica sobre a relação entre o público e o privado na história recente do ensino superior brasileiro com o objetivo de um olhar prospectivo para a educação comunitária de identidade luterana. Apresenta-se uma análise de alguns referenciais de concepção de educação comunitária pública no contexto do ensino superior, que evoluíram para a compreensão de educação comunitária pública não estatal e seus significados e responsabilidades como uma interface entre o público e o privado.
