description | This work aims to analyze the formation of prices within the eggplant chain in the department of Córdoba (Colombia). Data from the weekly wholesale series in the Montería market were obtained from the DANE weekly information system during the years 2020 and 2021. The other calculations for the links of retail intermediaries and wholesalers come from the proportions found in the socioeconomic characterization work of the production system. Engle and Granger cointegration techniques were used, and analysis of the relationships between the series. The integration of the links in the chain and its impact on price formation was determined. The results show that the integration of the value chain is lower between the farmer and the final consumer, which was demonstrated with an elasticity of 0.34. The integration of the chain shows the price transfers from one link to another and also makes clear the increase when the link is changed, so the difference between the value paid by the consumer and the one received by the farmer is notorious. The work concludes that commercialization increases without adding value to the product. |

El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar la formación de precios dentro de la cadena de berenjena en el departamento de Córdoba (Colombia). Se utilizaron datos de las series mayoristas semanales en el mercado de Montería, obtenidos del sistema de información semanal del DANE durante los años 2020 y 2021. Los demás cálculos para los eslabones de intermediario minorista y comercializador mayorista provienen de las proporciones encontradas en trabajos de caracterización socioeconómica del sistema de producción. Se usaron técnicas de cointegración de Engle y Granger, y análisis de las relaciones entre las series; se determinó la integración de los eslabones de la cadena y su incidencia en la formación del precio. Los resultados evidencian la integración de la cadena de valor, que es menor entre el agricultor y el consumidor final, lo cual se demostró con la elasticidad de 0,34. La integración de la cadena muestra las transferencias de los precios de un eslabón a otro; además, deja claro el aumento cuando se cambia de eslabón; así, es notoria la diferencia entre el valor pagado por el consumidor y el que recibe el agricultor. El trabajo concluye que los aumentos de comercialización ocurren ante la ausencia de agregación de valor al producto.
