description During the 1990s in the province of San Juan-Argentina, a series of agriculturalprojects were promoted that produced a territorial reorganization of the wine frontier. Thesetransformations, promoted by Law 22.021, took place in a context of criticism of the deferralpolicy. The objective of this research was to analyse the new discursive constructions emergingfrom this policy, addressing the trajectory of regional identity and its tensions. Based on aflexible research design that combined documentary analysis techniques, statistical dataanalysis and in-depth interviews, the discursive strategies adopted by the companies thatbenefited from deferrals were investigated. It is concluded that this new stage caused tensionsin the traditional winegrowing identity. The arrival of new companies and the diversificationtowards olive growing, driven by these tax incentives, contributed to the transformation of SanJuan’s centuries-old identity narrative. The traditional agrarian valuations on which viticulturehad rested were displaced by a less cohesive construction. That is to say, more particularized,company by company, marking an identity differentiation with the previous period. At thesame time, there was a process of material and symbolic reappropriation in which traditionalimages were merged with new ones.

Durante la década de 1990, en la provincia de San Juan, Argentina, se promovieronuna serie de proyectos agrícolas que produjeron una reorganización territorial de lafrontera del vino. Dichas transformaciones impulsadas por la Ley 22.021 se dieron en uncontexto de críticas hacia la política de diferimientos. El objetivo de la presente investigaciónfue analizar las nuevas construcciones discursivas emergentes a partir de dicha política abordandola trayectoria de la identidad regional y sus tensiones. A partir de un diseño de investigaciónflexible que combinó técnicas de análisis documental, análisis de datos estadísticos yentrevistas en profundidad, se indagó en las estrategias discursivas adoptadas por las empresasbeneficiadas con diferimientos. Se concluye que esta nueva etapa provocó tensiones en laidentidad tradicional vitivinícola. La llegada de nuevas empresas y la diversificación hacia laolivicultura, impulsada por estos incentivos fiscales, contribuyeron a la transformación de lanarrativa identitaria centenaria de San Juan. Las tradicionales valoraciones agrarias sobre lasque la vitivinicultura había descansado fueron desplazadas por una construcción menos cohesiva,es decir, más particularizada, empresa por empresa, lo cual marcó una diferenciaciónidentitaria con el período anterior. A su vez, se dio un proceso de reapropiación material ysimbólica donde se fusionaron imágenes tradicionales con otras nuevas. Durante a década de 1990, na província de San Juan-Argentina, foi promovidauma série de projetos agrícolas que produziram uma reorganização territorial da fronteiravitivinícola. Estas transformações, promovidas pela Lei 22.021, tiveram lugar num contexto decrítica à política de adiamento. O objetivo desta investigação foi analisar as novas construçõesdiscursivas que emergiram como resultado desta política, abordando a trajetória da identidaderegional e as suas tensões. Utilizando um desenho de pesquisa flexível que combinou técnicasde análise documental, análise de dados estatísticos e entrevistas em profundidade, foraminvestigadas as estratégias discursivas adoptadas pelas empresas beneficiárias do diferimento.Conclui-se que esta nova etapa provocou tensões na identidade vitivinícola tradicional. Achegada de novas empresas e a diversificação para a olivicultura, impulsionadas por estesincentivos fiscais, contribuíram para a transformação da narrativa identitária secular de SanJuan. As valorizações agrárias tradicionais em que assentava a viticultura foram substituídaspor uma construção menos coesa. Ou seja, mais particularizada, empresa a empresa,marcando uma diferenciação identitária com o período anterior. Simultaneamente, assistiusea um processo de reapropriação material e simbólica em que as imagens tradicionais sefundiram com novas imagens.
