description | The current corporate and neoliberal agri-food regime is actively reconfiguring the global geography of winemaking as we have known it up to now. Growing international competition is exacerbating regional strategies for distinguishing products and their patrimonialization mechanisms. This, evidenced by the proliferation of standardization and delimitation of production zones. Beyond the intercontinental quarrels that have arisen in the past, conflicts and tensions between scales are revealed, rapidly and fragilely intertwining actors and territories in the conformation of winegrowing places that need delimitation and institutionally recognized. In this paper we analyse the disputes over the definition of the Geographical Indication of Paraje Altamira in the oasis of the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina in order to unravel the legitimization strategies deployed by business, scientific and state actors, and the power relations established between them in the framework of corporate wine territorialization. The analysis of this case study will allow us to critically assess the emergence of other similar initiatives that gave rise to a complex and hierarchical production of scales. |

El actual régimen agroalimentario corporativo y neoliberal está reconfigurando activamente la geografía mundial de la vitivinicultura que conocíamos hasta el momento. La creciente competencia internacional exacerba las estrategias regionales de distinción de los productos y sus mecanismos de patrimonialización. Así lo demuestra la proliferación de dispositivos de normalización y delimitación de zonas productivas. Más allá de las querellas intercontinentales que han suscitado en el pasado, en la actualidad se revelan conflictos y tensiones entre escalas, entrelazando acelerada y frágilmente actores y territorios en la conformación de lugares vitivinícolas que necesitan ser delimitados y reconocidos institucionalmente. En este trabajo analizamos las disputas por la definición de la indicación geográfica del Paraje Altamira en el oasis del Valle de Uco en Mendoza, Argentina, con el fin de desentrañar las estrategias de legitimación desplegadas por actores empresariales, científicos y estatales, y las relaciones de poder que se establecen entre ellos en el marco de la territorialización vitivinícola corporativa. El diagnóstico de este caso de estudio nos permitirá valorar críticamente la emergencia de otras nuevas iniciativas similares que dieron lugar a una compleja y jerárquica producción de escalas. O atual regime agroalimentar corporativo e neoliberal está remodelando ativamente a geografia global da produção de vinho como a conhecemos até agora. A crescente concorrência internacional está exacerbando as estratégias regionais de distinção de produtos e seus mecanismos de patrimonialização. Isso é demonstrado pela proliferação de mecanismos de padronização e pela delimitação de zonas de produção. Além das disputas intercontinentais que surgiram no passado, os conflitos e as tensões entre escalas, agora são revelados, entrelaçando rápida e fragilmente atores e territórios na formação de locais de produção de vinho que precisam ser delimitados e reconhecidos institucionalmente. Neste artigo, analisamos as disputas sobre a definição da Indicação Geográfica de Paraje Altamira, no oásis do Valle do Uco, em Mendoza, Argentina, no intuito de desvendar as estratégias de legitimação utilizadas por atores empresariais, científicos e estatais, somando as relações de poder estabelecidas entre eles, no âmbito da territorialização do vinho corporativo. O diagnóstico desse estudo de caso nos permite avaliar criticamente o surgimento de outras novas iniciativas semelhantes que deram origem a uma produção complexa e hierárquica de escalas.
