| description | The bicycle is one of the most feasible solutions for mobility in cities. Its use brings environmental, social and economic benefits. However, the methods and strategies for its planning are still unknown. The objective is to reflect on the outstanding experiences of planning bicycle use. The methodology consists of the synthesis of the benefits of the cycling mode of transport and its planning process. Based on these two concepts, an exploration of the cases of implementation of bicycle use in cities in the global, Latin American and Colombian contexts is carried out. The planning methods used, infrastructure developments and the management of bicycle use are analyzed. It is concluded that the benefits of bicycle use, as well as the various approaches to its planning successfully implemented, justify the inclusion of infrastructure projects for cyclists in the development plans of territorial governments, and their materialization |

Su uso trae beneficios ambientales, sociales y económicos. Sin embargo, aún se desconocen los métodos y las estrategias para su planificación. El objetivo es hacer una reflexión acerca de las experiencias sobresalientes de la planificación del uso de la bicicleta. La metodología consiste en la síntesis de las bondades del modo de transporte ciclista y su proceso de planificación. A partir de estos dos conceptos se realiza una exploración de los casos de implementación del uso de la bicicleta en ciudades en los contextos global, latinoamericano y colombiano. Se analizan los métodos de planificación empleados, los desarrollos de infraestructura y la gestión del uso de la bicicleta. Se concluye que los beneficios del uso de la bicicleta, así como los diversos enfoques para su planificación implementados exitosamente, justifican la inclusión de proyectos de infraestructura para ciclistas en los planes de desarrollo de los gobiernos territoriales y su materialización. A bicicleta é uma das soluções mais viáveis para a mobilidade nas cidades. Seu uso traz benefícios ambientais, sociais e econômicos. Contudo, os métodos e estratégias para o seu planejamento ainda são desconhecidos. O objetivo é refletir sobre as experiências marcantes de planejamento do uso da bicicleta. A metodologia consiste na síntese dos benefícios do modo de transporte ciclável e seu processo de planejamento. Com base nestes dois conceitos, é realizada uma exploração dos casos de implementação do usoda bicicleta nas cidades nos contextos global, latino-americano e colombiano; são analisados os métodos de planejamento utilizados, o desenvolvimento da infraestrutura e a gestão do uso da bicicleta. Conclui-se que os benefícios dautilização da bicicleta, bem como as diversas abordagens ao seu planeamento implementadas com sucesso, justificam a inclusão de projetos de infraestruturas para ciclistas nos planos de desenvolvimento dos governos territoriais, e a suamaterialização.
