Summary: | The jurisdiction of CORPOCHIVOR has 75,693 hectares designated as strategic ecosystems under the Regional Integrated Management District classification (DRMI, in Spanish). This category of ecosystem protection establishes a delimited area with the objective of promoting a comprehensive and coordinated approach to the management of natural resources. The approach takes into account ecological, social, and economic aspects, with the aim of conserving biodiversity and ecosystem services in harmony with the development of the communities that inhabit them. To achieve this goal, participatory planning exercises are conducted to facilitate controlled and sustainable economic activities in certain areas. Considering the significance of preserving biodiversity in these ecosystemically important areas, sustainable production models are implemented to enable a shift in land use and current production practices. |
