description In this work the main goal was to get to know and describe the practices andmeanings of cultural consumption of young college students that watched televisión duringthe matches of the Mexican soccer team at the South Africa 2010 World Cup. In order toacces this, a research was done in the contents of the transmisssions as well as in culturalconsumptions of youg people, through a multi-sited etnography with various data collectiontools. Among the findings it can be mentioned that the broadcasts of Mexican national team’ssoccer matches are performative rituals where young people densely express heterogeneousforms of cultural consumption imbricated with loose nationalist imaginaries. It is concludedthat young people can both reproduce nationalist imaginaries as pragmatic consumers becausewith their sports-nationalist identifications they involve consumption practices with flexibleimaginaries about what it is to be Mexican. Therefore, infront of the televisión they can beconsumers and citizens, depending on the space, the temporality and the subjectd with whomthey interact. The contect will be presentedin eight sections. In the frist three I define thetopic, the subjects, the contexts, the method and the theorical approach. The folowing threeshow the forms of consumption in various locally located spaces. In the last section I outlinethe findings.

En este trabajo el objetivo central fue conocer y describir las prácticas y significadosde consumo cultural de jóvenes universitarios/as que vieron televisión durante lospartidos de la selección mexicana de futbol del Mundial de Sudáfrica 2010. Para acceder aello se indagó tanto en los contenidos de las transmisiones como en los consumos culturalesde los jóvenes, mediante una etnografía multisituada con diversas herramientas de recolecciónde datos. Entre los hallazgos, se puede mencionar que las transmisiones de los partidosde futbol de la selección mexicana son rituales performativos en donde los jóvenes expresandensamente formas heterogéneas de consumo cultural imbricadas con imaginarios nacionalistaslaxos. Se concluye que los jóvenes pueden reproducir tanto imaginarios nacionalistascomo ser pragmáticos consumidores porque con sus identificaciones deportivo-nacionalistasinvolucran prácticas de consumo con imaginarios flexibles sobre lo mexicano. Por ello frenteal televisor pueden ser consumidores y ciudadanos, según el espacio, la temporalidad y lossujetos con quienes interactúen. El contenido será presentado en ocho apartados. En los primerostres delimito el tema, los sujetos, los contextos, el método y la aproximación teórica.Los tres siguientes muestran las formas de consumo en diversos espacios localmente situados.En la última sección delimito los hallazgos. Neste trabalho o objetivo central foi conhecer e descrever as prácticas e significadosdo consumo cultural de jovens universitários que assistiram à televisão durante as partidas daseleção mexicana de futebol na Copa do Mundo da Àfrica do Sul 2010. Para acessálo, tantoos conteúdos do nas transmissões, bem como no sonsumo cultural dos jovens, através de umaetnografía multisituada com diversas ferramentas de recolha de dados. Entre as descobertaspode-se mencionar que as transmissões dos jogos de futebol da seleção mexicana são rituaisperformativos onde os jovens expressam densamente formas heterogêneo de consumocultural imbricadas com imaginários nacionalistas soltos. Conclui-se que os jovens podemtanto reproducir imaginários nacionalistas como consumidores pragmáticos porque com assuas identificações deportivo-nacionalistas envolvem prácticas de consumo com imagináriosflexíveis sobre o que é mexicano. Portanto, diante da televisão podem ser consumidores ecidadãos dependiendo do espaço, da temporalidade e dos sujeitos com os quais interagem.O conteúdo será apresentado em oito seções. Nos três primeiros defino o tema, os asuntos, oscontextos, o método e a abordagem teórica. Os três seguintes mostram as formas de consumoem varios espaços localizados localmente. Na última seção descrevo as conclusões.
