Entre los objetivos de política económica que han sido sometidos a estudio en todos los países y todas las economías, hay uno de especial importancia que se refiere a la inflación, dada la trascendencia que esta posee en la actividad económica. En este artículo se analiza el significado que tiene la reducción de la inflación para las economías, las características de un régimen de metas de inflación, los antecedentes en Colombia desde la independencia del Banco de la República, los resultados en materia de inflación en el país para el periodo 2002-2010, y, por último, se incluyen las conclusiones.
