El pasado 29 de Abril de 2011, fue decretada como Área Natural Protegida, de jurisdicción estatal como reserva la “Sierra del Tentzo” en el Estado de Puebla, México, con una superficie de 57,815,28193 hectáreas, abarcando 13 municipios. La investigación tuvo como objetivo general Diseñar un plan del espacio físico de la Reserva Estatal Sierra del Tentzo para orientar actividades de Turismo de Naturaleza, e integrar el componente de Turismo al Programa de Manejo, a través de una metodología que incorpore criterios de sostenibilidad. Para lograr este objetivo general, se establecieron dos objetivos específicos: Evaluar los recursos naturales y culturales, para conocer la potencialidad y aprovechamiento desde la actividad turística y el de Planificar el espacio turístico de la reserva, para proyectar actividades de turismo de naturaleza.
