description This paper reviews the proposals of the ‘critical pedagogies’ and presents some difficulties in the realization of their principles in the context of current public policies in Latin America. Distances between discourses and practices, absence of radically democratic educational policies, lack of awareness of critical pedagogies by teachers, lack of contextual production and indiscriminate use of the word critical—that ends up opposing everything that is considered as traditional pedagogy—makes us wonder about the real possibility of transformation in order to fight against the dominant power relationships through counter-hegemonic and destabilizing practices in education.

El trabajo revisa las propuestas de las Pedagogías Críticas y expone algunas dificultades de concreción de sus postulados en el contexto de las políticas públicas actuales en Latinoamérica. Distancias entre discursos y prácticas, ausencia de políticas públicas educativas radicalmente democráticas, falta de conocimiento de las Pedagogías Críticas por parte del profesorado, ausencia de producción contextualizada y uso indiscriminado de la palabra crítico —que termina oponiéndose a todo lo que se considere como pedagogía tradicional— hace que nos preguntemos sobre la posibilidad real de transformación para luchar contra relaciones de poder dominantes a través de prácticas contrahegemónicas y desestabilizadoras en el campo educativo.  Le travail révise les propositions des “pédagogies critiques” et expose certaines difficultés de concrétisation de ses postulats dans le contexte des politiques publiques actuelles d’Amérique Latine. Les distances entre discours et pratiques, l’absence de politiques publiques éducatives radicalement démocratiques, le manque de connaissance des pédagogies critiques de la part du professorat, l’absence de production contextualisée et utilisation indiscriminée de la parole critique – qui termine par s’opposer a tout ce qui se considère comme une pédagogie traditionnelle – tout ceci fait que nous nous posons des questions à propos de la possibilité réelle de transformation pour lutter contre les relations de pouvoir dominantes au travers de pratiques contre-hégémoniques et déstabilisatrices dans le champ éducatif. O trabalho dá uma olhada nas propostas das Pedagogias Críticas e expõe algumas dificuldades de concreção dos seus postulados no contexto das atuais políticas públicas em Latino América. Distancias entre discursos e práticas, ausência de políticas públicas educacionais radicalmente democráticas, falta de conhecimento das Pedagogias Críticas por parte do professorado, ausência de produção contextualizada e uso indiscriminado da palavra crítico –que termina em oposição a todo aquilo que se considere como pedagogia tradicional– faz que nos perguntemos sobre a possibilidade real de transformação para lutar contra relações de poder dominantes a traves de práticas contra hegemônicas e desestabilizadoras no campo educativo.
