In assessing the role of the follower in the development of theories of leadership, it was concluded that according to their perception, their behavior and their needs require a certain category of leader, which can be seen from each theory.

In assessing the role of the follower in the development of theories of leadership, it was concluded that according to their perception, their behavior and their needs require a certain category of leader, which can be seen from each theory.  La mayoría de revisiones acerca del liderazgo se han enfocado en el líder y su papel dentro de la organización. Las investigaciones actuales demuestran que los seguidores, como un elemento importante del liderazgo, poseen un papel activo en la selección del estilo de liderazgo y en la teoría desde la cual se le evaluará a un líder. Desde este punto, el objetivo de este artículo es identificar cuál ha sido el papel de los seguidores en el desarrollo de las teorías del liderazgo organizacional. Al evaluar el papel que tiene el seguidor dentro del desarrollo de las teorías del liderazgo se pudo concluir que de acuerdo con su percepción, su comportamiento y sus necesidades, exige cierta categoría de líder, que puede ser vista desde cada teoría.
