description | In order to think the field of popular education, this article aims to recover some of the historical and conceptual references developed in the program “Pedagogical alternatives and planning education in Latin America” (Known by its Spanish acronym, APPEAL). Likewise, it is analyzed the potential that allows the systematization of in-process and no-documented experiences, as well as the study of the experiences already collected, since they reflect somehow the problem, its dimensions and alternative trends in a particular region, and point out possible challenges and limitations in pedagogical action and transformation. This work is organized in three main sections to develop the following topics: an approaching to the term popular education, the importance of the pedagogical experiences’ systematization and debates on this subject, and new horizons to keep thinking the field of popular education up. In each section different levels of analysis are discussed to place the historical formation of the popular education concept, the production of alternative pedagogical experiences, its systematization and the implications for thinking its current reconfiguration and emergency in Latin America, particularly. |

Este artículo tiene como objetivo recuperar parte de los referentes histórico-conceptuales desarrollados en el marco del programa ‘Alternativas Pedagógicas y Prospectiva Educativa en América Latina (APPEAL)’ para pensar el campo de la educación popular. Asimismo se analiza el potencial que permite sistematizar las experiencias en proceso, no documentadas, así como estudiar las ya recuperadas en virtud de que reflejan, de alguna manera, la problemática, dimensiones y tendencias alternativas de una región particular e indican los posibles retos y límites de la acción y transformación pedagógica. Para el abordaje de la temática propuesta el trabajo se organiza en tres apartados centrales en los que se desarrollan los siguientes tópicos: aproximación al término educación popular, la importancia de la sistematización de experiencias pedagógicas y posiciones en el debate, y nuevos horizontes para seguir pensando el campo de la educación popular. En cada uno de ellos se abordan diversos planos de análisis para situar la conformación histórica del concepto de la educación popular, la producción de experiencias pedagógicas alternativas, su sistematización e implicaciones para pensar su reconfiguración y emergencia en el momento actual, particularmente en América Latina. Cet article a pour but de récupérer une partie des références historicoconceptuelles développées dans le cadre du programme ‘Alternatives Pédagogiques et Prospective Éducative en Amérique Latine (APPEAL)’ afin de réfléchir au domaine de l’éducation populaire. De plus, on analyse le potentiel qui permet de systématiser les expériences en cours, non documentées, ainsi que d’étudier celles déjà récupérées étant donné qu’elles reflètent, d’une certaine manière, la problématique, les dimensions et les tendances alternatives d’une région particulière et indiquent les possibles défis et les limites de l’action et de la transformation pédagogique. Pour le traitement du thème proposé, le travail est organisé en trois parties centrales dans lesquelles sont développés les sujets suivants: approximation du terme éducation populaire, l’importance de la systématisation des expériences pédagogiques et des positions dans le débat, et les nouveaux horizons afin de continuer à réfléchir au domaine de l’éducation populaire. Pour chacun d’eux, différents plans d’analyse sont abordés afin de situer la conformation historique du concept de l’éducation populaire, la production d’expériences pédagogiques alternatives, leur systématisation et les implications permettant de penser leur reconfiguration et leur problème actuel, particulièrement en Amérique Latina. O artigo tem como objetivo recuperar parte dos referentes histórico-conceituais desenvolvidos no palco do programa “Alternativas Pedagógicas e Prospectiva Educativa em América Latina (APPEAL)” para pensar o campo da educação popular. Da mesma forma analisa-se o potencial que permite sistematizar as experiências em processo, não documentais, assim como estudar as já recuperadas e que refletem, de alguma forma, a problemática, dimensões e tendências alternativas de uma região particular e indicam os possíveis desafios e limites da ação e transformação pedagógica.
