Standing out how it can be identified and taken, according to the new Japanese approach based on the individualworker-which contrasts with the American pragmatism-, where the vision of the companies as organizations “that learn”, capable of generating competitive advantages, through the knowledge in research,  development and technological innovation. This essay is exploratory and it is supported on the existing “state of art”. To illustrate the advances of the management of knowledge in Colombia of the results of recent studies of prestigious researchers and university teachers, Maria de los Angeles Briceño and Cesar Bernal.

En el presente artículo se reflexiona sobre la importancia que tiene la gestión del conocimiento (tácito y explícito) en las empresas -en donde la información es un insumo relevante-, destacándose cómo puede ser identificado y aprovechado, según el novedoso enfoque Japonés basado en el trabajador individual -que contrasta con el pragmatismo norteamericano-, y en la visión de las empresas como organizaciones “que aprenden”, capaces de generar ventajas competitivas, mediante el conocimiento en investigación, desarrollo e innovación tecnológica. Este ensayo es exploratorio y está apoyado en el  “estado del arte” existente. Para ilustrar los avances de la gestión del conocimiento en Colombia se utilizaron los resultados de un estudio reciente de los prestigiosos investigadores y profesores universitarios, María de los Ángeles Briceño y César Bernal.
