Last but not least, it is the influence that this technology has had on the environment, its contributions for improving and evaluating from an environmental point of view.  El presente artículo aborda el concepto de energía mareomotriz, haciendo una distinción de los tipos de sistemas de aprovechamiento de la energía de las mareas, de la misma manera se muestra el papel que esta tecnología desempeña como fuente de abastecimiento energético en algunos países alrededor del mundo, rol que está asociado al potencial energético disponible de cada región, aspecto que de igual forma se expone en el documento soportado en cifras de GWh/año por superficie embalsada en Km2. Por último, pero no menos importante, está la influencia que ha tenido esta tecnología en el medio ambiente, sus contribuciones y aspectos por mejorar y evaluar desde el punto de vista medioambiental.
