description | Industrialization in Colombia has followed an erratic path. Although its history goes back to the early twentieth century, experienced a decline prematurely, as evidenced in the decline of their relative weight in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with the rise of tertiary activities. This structural change accelerated deindustrializers trends, which could not be reversed by the absence of an active industrial policy. From the point of view of regionaldynamic manufacturing industry has seen the continuation of a pattern of concentrator location of the main sectoral variables (number of establishments, employment and production) in the departments of larger economic gravity. |

Industrialization in Colombia has followed an erratic path.
