En la medida en que ya un altísimo porcentaje de la población mundial accede a la red y utiliza sus servicios, se propone reconocer el acceso a la red internet como un derecho humano, donde por la vía del habeas data se incorpore el derecho al olvido. Se trataría de que los Estados subsidien el uso de la internet y eliminen los intermediarios que sacan pingües ganancias de la explotación de un bien que debería ser público y gratuito.
