description The paper presents and analyzes a proposal for using virtual educational ethnography in the research of educational phenomena supported by TIC (Information and Communication Technology). The purpose is to describe the methodological strategy for developing the virtual educational ethnography, and assessing its appropriateness in teacher training proceses. The document describes the methodological process, in which participant observation and in depth interview are highlighted; as well as the hermeneutical analysis for unraveling the relationships network and terminology of the phenomena analysed, based on a case study. Subsequently, the article develops a reflection on the importance of this type of educational research in teacher education, with the goal of looking in depth into educational scenarios supported by cyberspace; given that these are the new contexts for creating meaning and giving sense to educational practices as social and cultural ones. Finally, it suggests that the virtual educational ethnography can provide new meaning to pedagogical processes and teacher education programs; in making them, in turn, more in tune with new forms of social and educational life.

El artículo presenta y analiza una propuesta para la utilización de la etnografía educativa virtual en la investigación de fenómenos educativos apoyados por TIC (Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación). El propósito es describir la estrategia metodológica para la realización de la etnografía educativa virtual y analizar su pertinencia en procesos de formación docente. Se describe el proceso metodológico en el cual se privilegia la observación participante y la entrevista en profundidad, así como el análisis hermenéutico para el desentrañamiento de la red de relaciones y significados de los fenómenos a analizar, a partir de un estudio de caso. Posteriormente, se plantea una reflexión sobre la importancia de este tipo de investigación educativa en la formación docente, para profundizar en escenarios educativos que utilizan el ciberespacio, porque éstos son los nuevos contextos de significación y creación de sentido de las prácticas educativas como prácticas sociales y culturales. Finalmente, se plantea que la etnografía educativa virtual puede contribuir a la resignificación de los procesos pedagógicos y de formación docente, para hacerlos más coherentes con las nuevas formas de vida social y educativa. Cet article montre et analyse une proposition pour utiliser l’ethnographie éducative virtuelle dans la recherche des phénomènes d’éducation soutenues par les TIC (Technologies de l’Information et la Communication). Le but est de décrire la stratégie méthodologique pour mettre en oeuvre l’ethnographie éducative virtuelle et analyser sa pertinence dans les processus de formation des professeurs. La méthodologie privilégiant l’observation active et l’entrevue en profondeur y est décrite, ainsi que l’analyse herméneutique utilisée pour percer le réseau de rapports et de significations des phénomènes à analyser, tout en partant d’un cas d’étude. Ensuite, on trouve une réflexion sur l’importance de ce genre de recherche éducative pour la formation des professeurs, afin d’approfondir nos connaissances sur certains scénarios éducatifs qui utilisent le cyberespace, ceux-ci étant les nouveaux contextes de signification et création de sens dans les pratiques éducatives en tant que pratiques sociales et culturelles. Finalement, l’ethnographie éducative virtuelle est proposée comme outil pour contribuer à la resignificación des processus pédagogiques et de la formation des professeurs, afin de les rendre plus cohérents par rapport aux nouveaux modes de vie sociale et éducative. No artigo é apresentada e analisada uma proposta para a utilização da etnografia educacional virtual na pesquisa de fenômenos educacionais apoiados pelas Tecnologias da Informação e da Comunicação (TIC). O objetivo é descrever a estratégia metodológica para a realização da etnografia educacional virtual e analisar se são convenientes em processos de formação docente. Além disso, é descrito o processo metodológico no qual se dá mais importância à observação dos participantes e a entrevistas detalhadas, bem como à análise hermenêutica para desvendar a rede de relações e significados dos fenômenos que estão sendo analisados a partir de um estudo de caso. Posteriormente, é feita uma reflexão sobre a importância deste tipo de pesquisas educacionais na formação docente, com o intuito de conhecer cenários educacionais onde é utilizado o ciberespaço, já que estes são os novos contextos de significação e sentido na criação tanto de práticas educacionais quanto práticas sociais e culturais. Finalmente, no artigo, pode se concluir que a etnografia educacional virtual pode contribuir com a criação de novos significados para os processos educacionais e de formação docente para que estes tenham mais coerência com as novas formas de vida social e educacional.
