Through the characters in these novels we will explore the possibilities and impossibilities of language as a cultural configuration determined by social circumstances. Finally, the perception of the face of the other, language as a dwelling place or as a grammar of inhumanity, are some of the metaphors that will be used in the creation of meaning with regard to the above stated themes |

En esta propuesta nos interesa problematizar y comprender el lugar que ocupa el lenguaje en las relaciones de alteridad que se tejen en medio del conflicto, la opresión y el aislamiento, en las obras Foe (1986) y La edad de hierro (1990). A través de los personajes de estas novelas nos adentraremos en las posibilidades o imposibilidades del lenguaje en tanto configuración cultural determinada por circunstancias sociohistóricas. Finalmente, la mirada del rostro del otro, el lenguaje como morada o como gramática de lo inhumano, serán algunas metáforas que participarán en la configuración de sentido alrededor de los temas enunciados.
