Sluys sets out his experimental position, where there would be a type of drawing typical of children allowing them to express their feelings and thoughts; whereas Puoillot advocates support in geometry and in manual work, in order to train the eye and the hand, as well as teach the construction of plane shapes to apply them in the manufacture of several objects. The teaching contents and methods are derived from the authors’ ways of substantiating their conceptions; as a faithful reflection not only of their way to understand drawing, children, the world they were living in, and their sense of futurity, but also of two different positions that were struggling to be legitimized at the time; struggles where discussions about how to teach art were involved.

Sluys y Pouillot, autores traducidos y publicados en la Revista de Instrucción Pública de Colombia, podrían asumirse como voceros de dos corrientes pedagógicas de finales del siglo XIX. Mientras Sluys nos expone su postura experimental, desde la cual existiría un dibujo propio de los niños, en el que ellos expresaban sus sentimientos e ideas; Pouillot defiende el apoyo en la geometría y el trabajo manual, con el fin de formar el ojo y la mano, y enseñar la construcción de figuras planas mediante el uso de instrumentos y aplicarlas en la fabricación de objetos. A partir de las formas en las que cada autor fundamentaba sus concepciones, se derivaban los contenidos y métodos de enseñanza como fiel reflejo, no solo de sus formas de comprender el dibujo, los niños, el mundo en el que habitaban y su sentido de futuridad, sino también de dos posturas distantes que pugnaban por legitimarse entonces, luchas en las que se vieron implicadas las discusiones sobre las formas de enseñanza del arte. Sluys et Pouillot, des auteurs qui ont été traduits et publiés dans la Revista de Instrucción Pública de Colombia (Journal de l’Instruction Publique de Colombie), pourraient être considérés comme des représentants de deux courants pédagogiques de la fin du dix-neuvième siècle. Alors que Sluys expose sa position expérimentale, selon laquelle il existerait un dessin propre aux enfants, leur permettant d’exprimer ses sentiments et ses pensées; Pouillot défend l’appui dans la géométrie et dans le travail manuel afin de former l’oeil et la main, et d’enseigner la construction de figures planes à l’aide d’instruments ainsi que l‘application de celles-ci dans la fabrication d‘objets. C’est à partir des manières dont chaque auteur fondait ses conceptions que les contenus et les méthodes d’enseignement ont découlé; comme un reflet, non seulement de ses façons de comprendre le dessin, les enfants, le monde autour d’eux et leur sens de futurité, mais aussi comme un reflet de deux positions différentes qui joutaient pour se légitimer à l’époque; des luttes où les discussions sur les manières d’enseigner l’art ont été impliquées. Enquanto Sluys expõe sua postura experimental, desde a qual existiria um desenho próprio dos meninos, no que eles expressavam seus sentimentos e ideias; Pouillot defende o apoio na geometria e no trabalho manual, com o fim de formar o olho e a mão, e ensinar a construção de figuras planas mediante o uso de instrumentos e aplicar na fabricação de objetos. A partir das formas nas que a cada autor fundamentava suas concepções, se derivavam os conteúdos e métodos de ensino como fiel reflexo, não só de suas formas de compreender o desenho, os meninos, o mundo no que habitavam e seu sentido de futuro, sina também de duas posturas distantes que pugnavam por legitimar-se então, lutas nas que se viram implicadas as discussões sobre as formas de ensino da arte.
