description This article discusses how the students’ bodies, especially the poor children’s bodies, became a bone of contention, a site of fights for their control and production, where civilizing speeches operated and they were manifested through dress code policies, uniform dress code policies and a broad range of aestheticizing technologies. In this regard, the article begins with the presentation of the general framework of the archeo-genealogical research on student uniforms and dress code in the Colombian school between the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries in which this text is inscribed. Then, a reference is made about the modern aesthetic project that made school an aestheticizing machine. Lastly, the relation between student uniform, hygiene, and good manners cultivation is presented. Thus, this text starts from the comprehension of student uniforms as aesthetic technologies integrating a wide range of knowledge, methods, practices and tools aimed at constructing the children’s bodies based on a truly particular regime.

En este artículo se analiza la manera en que el cuerpo del escolar, sobre todo el de la infancia pobre, se convirtió en campo de disputa, en un escenario de luchas por su producción y control, en el que operaron discursos civilizatorios que se expresaron través de políticas del vestir, del uniforme escolar y de un conjunto amplio de tecnologías estetizantes. En este orden de ideas, el artículo inicia presentando el marco general de la investigación arqueo-genealógica en torno a los uniformes escolares y los códigos de vestir en la escuela colombiana, entre finales del siglo XIX y las primeras décadas del siglo XX, en la cual se inscribe el presente texto. Luego se hace referencia al proyecto estético moderno que hizo de la escuela una máquina estetizante. Por último, se presenta la relación entre uniforme escolar, higiene y cultivo de las buenas maneras. Así, en este texto se parte de entender los uniformes escolares como tecnologías estetizantes, que integran un conjunto vasto de saberes, métodos, prácticas e instrumentos destinados a construir el cuerpo infantil desde un régimen de verdad particular. Dans cet article, on fait une analyse de la manière dont le corps de l’étudiant, particulièrement celui de l’enfant pauvre, est devenu un sujet de discorde ; une scène de luttes pour en avoir la production et le contrôle où l’on a utilisé des discours civilisateurs reflétés dans des politiques vestimentaires, des politiques sur le port de l’uniforme scolaire et des politiques sur un ensemble détaillé de technologies esthétisantes. Dans cet ordre d’idées, l’article commence par la présentation du cadre général de la recherche archéologique et généalogique sur les uniformes scolaires et les codes vestimentaires à l’école en Colombie entre la fin du XIXe siècle et le début du XXe siècle, dans lequel s’inscrit le présent texte. Ensuite, on fait référence au projet esthétique moderne qui a fait de l’école une machine esthétisante. Enfin, on présente la relation l’uniforme scolaire, l’hygiène, et la culture des bonnes moeurs. Ainsi, dans ce texte, on part de la compréhension des uniformes scolaires comme technologies esthétisantes intégrant un vaste ensemble de connaissances, méthodes, pratiques et instruments destinés à la construction du corps de l’enfant à partir d’un régime vraiment particulier. Neste artigo analisa-se a maneira em que o corpo do escolar, sobretudo o da infância pobre, se converteu em campo de disputa, num cenário de lutas por sua produção e controle, no que operaram discursos civilizatórios que se expressaram através de políticas do vestir, do uniforme escolar e de um conjunto amplo de tecnologias estetizantes. Nesta ordem de ideias, o artigo inicia apresentando o marco geral da pesquisa arqueo-genealógica em torno dos uniformes escolares e os códigos de vestir na escola colombiana, entre finais do século XIX e as primeiras décadas do século XX, na qual se inscreve o presente texto.
