El presente texto se pregunta por la forma en que se organizó la Junta Suprema de Caracas, que se convirtió en la primera forma de autonomía gubernamental y en una expresión independentista. Aunque estas Juntas pretendían defender los derechos de Fernando VII, en la práctica se convirtieron en el primer mecanismo de expresión política de los criollos, puesto que posteriormente se transformaron en juntas de gobierno autónomas que paulatinamente proclamaron la independencia y consolidaron los primeros proyectos constitucionales.
