Summary:Frequently the reading process and its pedagogical practice are praised, but neglecting other aspects that are also relevant. That´s why this paper aims to inform about the pedagogical knowledge related to the reading process and its practice, in order to enhance this skill in the students. With this objective we study some authors, having into account concepts, public policies and reflections, and concluding that it is important try to harmonize the practices from the different educational proposals with the purpose to understand the teaching work from the reflection, thus enabling a pedagogical knowledge with a transformation not only from the curriculum but from the attitude that allows the integral development of the teacher.
