Para realizar el proceso de clasificación y generación de mapas temáticos de coberturas en imágenes satelitales multiespectrales e hiperespectrales se emplean diversos procedimientos, entre los cuales se encuentran el análisis de espectros, la clasificación angular, la reducción de la dimensionalidad de la imagen y el análisis lineal de mezclas espectrales, entre otros. En el presente trabajo se emplea una imagen Satelital Landsat 7 para realizar la clasificación de coberturas mediante autómatas celulares, empleando cada pixel de la imagen como si fuera un elemento de la rejilla que constituye al autómata celular y se comparan los resultados con los obtenidos mediante el uso del Software ERDAS.
