Este texto da cuenta de los resultados del trabajo de investigación titulado: “El cuento como estrategia pedagógica para desarrollar la competencia de indagación en ciencias naturales por medio de secuencias didácticas” en los estudiantes de grado octavo de la Institución Educativa Agropecuaria El Escobal del municipio de Ramiriquí. La metodología en la investigación se desarrolló desde el enfoque cualitativo, paradigma sociocrítico bajo la investigación acción (IA), la cual permitió analizar paso a paso el problema; las etapas que se desarrollaron fueron: diagnóstico, planificación y evaluación. Los datos se obtuvieron mediante el diseño y aplicación de secuencias didácticas, análisis, interpretación, descripción y reflexión sobre los resultados obtenidos en la producción de cuentos. A partir de las subcategorías: Comprensión y construcción de conceptos, Capacidad de formulación de preguntas y Uso de palabras científicas, se verificó el desarrollo y fortalecimiento de la competencia de indagación en ciencias naturales, obteniendo como resultado el fortalecimiento de competencias comunicativas, base para la construcción del conocimiento.
