En este trabajo se presenta un estudio de la interacción de las ondas electromagnéticas con hojas caducas y coníferas, en las longitudes de las microondas, mediante la teoría de la dispersión (scattering) de la electrodinámica. Se inicia con una breve explicación de los conceptos básicos de teledetección, seguido del estudio de la teoría de mezcla de dieléctricos en materiales vegetativos, y se finaliza con el desarrollo matemático de la ecuación integral de Helmholtz, que relaciona el campo dispersado (scattering) de la zona lejana, con el campo inducido sobre un dispersor vegetativo.
