description The Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia since 1982 was linked to the academic processes proposed at the national level in the mo- dality of distance education, in support of the population that for geogra- phical and economic reasons could not access the university education in person, favoring in this first opportunity, a group of teachers who achieved the goal of being graduates in primary basic education whose benefits were appreciated by their students in the most remote areas of the capital of the department, in this document their genesis, development and culmination are described of the program that started and strengthened in this university the modality of distance education, in favor of regional development with social responsibility in favor of students who are enrolled in the different programs offered by the Faculty of Distance Studies currently.

La Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia, desde el año de 1982 se vinculó con los procesos académicos propuestos a nivel nacional en la modalidad de educación a distancia, en apoyo a la población que por razones geográficas y económicas no podía acceder a la educación universitaria pre- sencial, favoreciendo en esta primera oportunidad, a un grupo de profesores que lograron el objetivo de ser licenciados en Educación Básica Primaria cuyos beneficios lo apreciaron sus estudiantes en las zonas más apartadas de la capital del departamento, en este documento se describe su génesis, desarrollo y culmen del programa que dio inicios y robusteció en esta univer- sidad la modalidad de educación a distancia, en pro del desarrollo regional con responsabilidad social en favor de los estudiantes que se encuentran matriculados en los diferentes programas que oferta la Facultad de Estudios a Distancia en la actualidad.
