The objective of this article is to analyse, through the documentary interpretation of primary sources, the lawsuits around this resguardo, making special emphasis in that which the Augustine friars were implicated, given the singularity of the lawsuit with a religious congregation. Also, it is sought to establish how the conflict indirectly contributed to the continuity of the resguardo, at least until the beginning of the 18th century. Thus, the locals conserved the assigned territory and also managed to obtain an extension to its borders. |

En el Virreinato de la Nueva Granada durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII, el Resguardo de Chivatá se vio involucrado en una serie de litigios por tierras, relacionados con la confusión en los linderos llevando a la invasión de las tierras comunales por parte de vecinos y la invasión de los indios en las tierras aledañas al resguardo. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar, a través de la interpretación documental de fuentes primarias, los pleitos alrededor de dicho resguardo, haciendo especial énfasis en el que estuvieron implicados los frailes Agustinos, dada la singularidad que conlleva el pleito con una congregación religiosa. Asimismo, se busca establecer como el conflicto contribuyó de manera indirecta a la continuidad del resguardo, por lo menos hasta principios del siglo XIX. Es así que los naturales no solamente logran conservar el territorio asignado, sino que consiguen que sus linderos se extiendan. Dans la Nouvelle-Grenade, au cours de la seconde moitié du XVIIIe, le Resguardo de Chivatá a connu un nombre considérable de litiges à cause des confusions par rapport aux limites des propriétés ainsi que les invasions des terres communales et l’invasion faites par les indiens aux terres proches au Resguardo. Cet article se propose d’analyser, par l’interprétation de sources primaires, les disputes provoquées par ces problèmes, en particulier ceux où étaient impliqués les frères Augustiniens vue la singularité de ces cas. D’ailleurs, on tente d’établir à quel point le conflit a contribué à la continuité du Resguardo, au moins jusqu’au début du XIXe siècle. Car c’est de cette sorte que les «originaires» arrivent à conserver le territoire mais aussi à élargir ses limites.
