Perches for birds are structures that may influence seed dispersal and boost the succession. These structures are part of a set of techniques known as nucleation, which is a process involving elements, biotic and abiotic, those can promote the formation of niches of regeneration The Vega’s watershed creek has invasion by exotic species, pastures with livestock purposes and loss of native vegetation in its riparian areas. The restoration strategy was evaluated with artificial perches in the riverside area, establishing an experiment with three treatments; T0: without perch, T1: with artificial perch and T2: with natural perch, under each perch a trap was located to retain the dispersed seeds. Through the capture of birds and obtaining their fecas the main dispersing species of seeds and the potentially dispersed vegetal species were determined. The Mann Whitney test showed that the treatment with artificial perch favored the dispersion of ornitocorous seeds. However, recruitment of seedlings in the plots under the perches was not significant. Turdus fuscater and Pheucticus aureoventris were the main dispersing species and Acacia melanoxylon, Muehlenbeckia tamnifolia and Morella pubescens, the most dispersed seeds. Artificial perches increased the dispersion of seeds, however the recruitment of ornitocorous species in the plots under artificial perches was limited; Inclusive eliminating competition with the grassland through the scarification.
