description This work describes the synthesis of LaFeO 3 perovskite modified by Sr and Cr using a polymerization chemical route, for application on steam methane reforming reaction. Results derived from X-ray diffraction (Fig. #1-a), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (Fig. #1-b), and transmission electron microscopy (Fig. #1-c), confirmed the presence of a prevalent orthorhombic structure related with a nanostructured solid (15-33 nm). The methane conversion was 97±2 % and the selectivity of H2 was 96.5% at 700 °C and the stability test was performed during 240 hours, using the catalyst under similar reaction conditions. After 100 h with time on stream the catalyst led to a deactivation which is attributed to the growth of crystallite sizes. These results support the use of La 0.8 Sr 0.2 Fe 0.8 Cr 0.2 O 3 oxide as active catalyst, because it prevents carbon deposition and stabilizes resisting posterior sintering due to the reversible reduction-oxidation process during the steam methane reforming reaction.
