El artículo es una revisión de la literatura que estudia 45 documentos publicados entre el 2010 y el 2021. Se presenta un acercamiento a la conceptualización de la Educación No Formal y la Educación Popular en América Latina. Las investigaciones indagan sobre el rastreo de conceptos, construcción histórica en el continente y prácticas alternativas. Para desarrollar la revisión documental, se elaboró un plan de trabajo en el que se categorizó la historia, las prácticas y su metodología y el rastreo bibliográfico; se seleccionaron los aportes más trascendentes de cada categoría; finalmente, se realizó el análisis de los documentos. Se destaca que la Educación No Formal y la Educación Popular se desarrollan en contextos similares. Este artigo apresenta uma revisão da literatura de 45 artigos publicados no período entre 2010 e 2021, que desenvolvem uma abordagem dos conceitos de Educação Não Formal e Educação Popular (E. P.) no campo da América Latina; a partir desses conceitos, faz-se uma reflexão que destaca o valor social dessas duas dimensões educacionais para enfrentar os desafios educacionais do século XXI. Destaca estudos sobre o rastreamento de conceitos, experiências e parte de sua história, que passar do México para a Argentina abre uma rica gama de possibilidades para ser educado, comparar e analisar situações às vezes tão particulares, mas também às vezes tão semelhantes em termos de resistência, metodologia e contexto de leitura.
