It was a dogmatic investigation of general scope. For this, the methodology of legal sciences was used with support in the documentary technique. The research showed that the very concept of the human right to adequate food has been evolving and has expanded to other situations that go beyond the traditional view of living free from hunger. Likewise, the right to adequate food has a collective and transversal dimension from the moment it is incorporated into concepts such as food sovereignty and security, and food systems.

Esta investigación busca analizar los conceptos y elementos que estructuran el derecho a la alimentación, así como las fuentes que sirven como parámetros por los cuales los Estados deben guiarse al elaborar sus normas internas. Se trató de una investigación dogmática de alcance general. Para ello, se recurrió a la metodología de las ciencias jurídicas con apoyo en la técnica documental. La investigación arrojó que el concepto mismo de derecho humano a la alimentación adecuada ha ido evolucionando y se ha expandido a otras situaciones que van más allá de la mirada tradicional de vivir libre del hambre. Asimismo, el derecho a la alimentación adecuada tiene una dimensión colectiva y transversal desde el momento en que se incorporan dentro de conceptos como soberanía y seguridad alimentarias, y sistemas alimentarios.
